Tangent Privacy Policy Last updated: July 22, 2026 In short Tangent processes AI conversation content locally in your browser to build its navigation map. The free launch version does not upload conversation content to Tangent servers. What Tangent accesses When you use Tangent on a supported AI chat website, the extension reads the conversation content displayed on that page, including questions, answers, selected text, message identifiers, and the current conversation URL. This access is necessary to create the visual conversation tree, connect follow-up branches, and navigate back to the relevant place in the conversation. Local storage Tangent stores navigation indexes, branch relationships, selected-quote anchors, and panel preferences in Chrome's local extension storage. This information stays in your browser profile and is used only to restore the map and your reading position. What Tangent does not collect - Tangent does not upload or sell your AI conversation content. - The free launch version does not require a Tangent account. - The free launch version does not contain advertising or behavioral analytics. - Tangent does not use conversation content for advertising, credit decisions, or profiling. Third-party websites Tangent runs on supported AI chat websites. Your use of those websites remains governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Tangent does not control how those services process the messages you send to them. Data retention and deletion Locally stored Tangent data remains until it is replaced, cleared through Chrome, or removed when you uninstall the extension or delete the relevant browser profile data. Security and limited use Tangent limits access to the minimum needed for its user-facing conversation mapping and navigation features. The use of information received from browser and website APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Changes If a future version introduces accounts, cloud synchronization, payments, analytics, or different data practices, this policy and the in-product disclosure will be updated before those changes are released.
